Who Are We?

The Sylvania Township Citizens police Academy Alumni Association was first developed to allow graduates to maintain a social and civic relationship with each other and to meet new graduates who were also interested in being involved with and supportive of the police department and the Sylvania community. It was also designed to allow graduates to maintain a relationship with the Sylvania Township Police Department and its officers.
We have grown! Here is a little background history:
The first Sylvania Township Citizens Police Academy was held in 2000. That first class started the Alumni Association after they graduated.
It offers graduates opportunities to hear about topics that we were not able to be cover during the Academy classes.
It offers opportunities to hear speakers from other agencies within the criminal justice system and to talk more in-depth about topics of interest to the group.
It is a way for the Academy graduates to volunteer and/or assist the STPD in various ways. Our newest most exciting project is "Citizens Patrol". This will be a group of individuals who will help patrol various areas and be the extra eyes and ears for our police department.
If you would like more info please contact Officer Sarah Toth at the Department. Lana Sweeney President
